To modernize the learning institutions and to improve the social conditions of the youth in disadvantaged countries
The long-term objective of the Saint-Louis de Gonzague Alumni Foundation Inc. (SLGAFI),
a tax-exempt non-profit corporation registered in
Massachusetts, USA (Identification Number: 000819849), is to support educational missions in disadvantaged
countries.
The Foundation is developing a novel strategy that consists of funding
projects administered by well-established institutions, a strategy that warrants
a significant impact on the social development of their host communities. To
this end. the Foundation will fund projects that seek to:
enhance the quality of teaching,
renovate the current infrastructure and develop new facilities,
promote the social and economic development of the youth.
To enhance the quality of education in these disadvantaged areas, the
Foundation will fund scholarships and awards devoted to the promotion of
excellence amongst professors and students. The Foundation funds projects
designed to update the teaching methods and to secure modern instruments. More
importantly, the Foundation will offer its staunchest assistance to the
development of scholarships that support transitions from high school to
university. It should be remembered that in most of the disadvantaged countries,
due to lack of resources, the students are bound to abandon their studies at the
post-secondary level. As a result, the quality of manpower in these communities
progressively deteriorates.
To ameliorate the infrastructure, the Foundation supports project designed to
renovate current structures and to build new facilities. The Foundation also
supports strategies for recruiting new personnel.
To assist the socio-economic development of the youth, the Foundation will
stimulate creativeness and entrepreneurial endeavors by funding projects
designed to create innovative enterprises. Wherever possible, the Foundation
will assist by establishing contacts between the fundable candidates and
potential investors.
The selection of fundable projects by the Foundation will be based on a
peer-review process involving a rigorous panel of internal and external
reviewers.
The ultimate mission of the Foundation is to revive or give new impetus to
learning organizations with strong track record in charitable activities and
education of the youth in disadvantaged countries.
